Heli2AfricaCharles Stewart is 43 and was born in the copper
belt in Zambia. He was
brought up on a farm and went to a rural boarding school in
Zimbabwe. Having majored in water polo and Photography,
Charles started life as a marine mechanic before moving into the
Safari industry with a passion for the outdoors. He also worked in
Mozambique with the Red Cross moving food aid in war torn areas
during the end of the Ranamo/Freelimo conflict.
He went on to run safari operations in Zimbabwe
and Zambia, and travelled extensively in these regions. Charles
worked in South Africa and Zimbabwe for Wildlife Management Services
moving animals to all four corners of southern Africa. His day to
day work for a number of years involved the relocation and
management of elephant, rhino and large antelope, giving him
extensive experience of travelling in all of the sub-Saharan
countries. Helicopters were part of the daily routine and
considered a tool of the trade.
Charles moved to the UK 9 years ago armed with a
wildlife veterinary drugs licence and moved into the next obvious
industry - building timber frame structures in the UK for the
housing market. This completely new world has looked after his
family to date.
Jim Anderson is also 43; he was born in the UK and
educated in Scotland. Jim started life with a transport back ground
and ended up in the Air force. After doing a number of overseas
duties he returned to the UK and subsequently joined Civi Street.
Jim began his entrepreneurial career in the fuel industry before
ending up in Domestic Development where he has built a very
successful business over a number of years.
Jim is a very competent pilot with extensive
experience in various fields of aviation. One of his adventures took
him from Cordoba in Spain over the Pyrenees in an auto gyro – the
helicopter version of a micro light. The journey is technically not
do-able in an autogyro, 1240miles is lots of flying! Jim ended up in
Carlisle after an exciting journey.
